Accountability
No human being is disposable, no human being is inconsequential. We agree to be accountable; to ourselves, our communities and the unsheltered individuals whose voices, experiences, and needs we are here to amplify.
Accountability starts with us all.
We agree to being accountable for the impact of our actions while assuming good intent. We recognize our interconnectedness as neighbors and community and seek to create space in which harm can be addressed, interrupted, healed and transformed. We recognize that at times we will fall short and ask our community to support us by holding us accountable.
How we maintain our commitment to accountability
Neighbors for Homes' Accountability Team holds space for the ongoing coordination of accountability work.
Our aim is to:
Deliberate about emerging conflicts and problematic dynamics, including:
Interpersonal -- within the Neighbors for Homes community
Between Neighbors For Homes and external groups or actors
Systemic -- addressing long-term harm & roots of intersecting oppression within our community
Track ongoing Accountability Processes when they arise
What we are not:
A decision-making body
Available to mediate other groups conflicts, including conflicts that arise within the encampments
We are open to collecting stories
