Who we are
Neighbors For Homes began in the spring of 2020 in response to the catastrophe of people who were unsheltered and displaced as it related to Covid-19 and the protests in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. This catastrophe took place inside the long standing crisis of homelessness across our city and state and brought into sharp clarity the need for solutions and action to ensure all residents of Minneapolis have homes.
We are mostly made up of Minneapolis residents. Our goals are to amplify and center the experiences of people experiencing homelessness and to seek short term and long term solutions that ensure homes for all of our Minneapolis neighbors. We are committed to collaborating with existing and new organizations, collectives, and coalitions.

Our Values
We believe in amplifying and centering the lived experiences and voices of people who are experiencing or have experienced homelessness.
We believe in a housing first commitment. Housing is a human right that all of our neighbors deserve.
We believe in collaboration and community building. Partnering and working alongside existing and new organizations, collectives, and coalitions is key to any success, as well as ensuring all stakeholders are engaged, equitable, and advanced through our work.
We believe in seeing people holistically- the ways in which people experience homelessness are unique and different, as we each are as individuals. The solutions to remedy homelessness will be vast and varied and be different for each family, person, and situation. There are no one size fits all approaches and many strategies, solutions, and supports must be a part of any success as a community.
We are anti-racist. We recognize white supremacy as an invention of white people and acknowledge the responsibility of white people to dismantle its structures and powers. We acknowledge the deep and disproportionate harm done to Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities, families, and individuals. We provide space for our white members to actively unlearn and uproot the roots of white supremacy individually, culturally, collectively and structurally.
We arrive to this group as concerned & committed individuals, who may have affiliations with other groups past & present, our own histories, identities and communities and we arrive to this work with a whole sense of self and approach this work in the present from a shared sense of humanity.
We believe in harm reduction models and philosophies that consist of meeting each person and community where they are, in a deep place of non-judgment and a focus on practical, clear solutions.
We agree to address the conflicts & tensions that may arise while doing this work.
We believe in trauma-informed processes and solutions. Trauma can be complex, personal, communal, and generational. Healing and trauma integration are essential to the whole health of all our communities.
We believe transparency, trust, and accountability are an essential part to any community organizing and engagement.
